Sunday Moose

Sunday afternoon a big moose came roaring around the deck side of our home - then disappeared. Found him sneaking bites from my fiddle ferns in the front planter bed. Couldn't see him until I stepped out on the front porch as he was between the side and front

windows. We were both startled but I got a few quick phot... before he wheeled and headed across the road into the trees where he wandered around eating tree bark then settling down for a rest. Neil said it was unusually large - an easy 1000 lbs of meat if we were hunters....which we are not.

An hour or so later, Neil yelled the moose was back and eating my ferns again. I shooed him away and he headed to the trees across the road. Stopped in the middle of the road and decided to go behind our house. I got a few shots from inside windows as it circled from side yard to back.

When he stopped in back , I stepped out the garage door to get a closer shot and noticed he was a she....and was pregnant ... probably looking for a place to bed down to have the little ones.

No more photos...I won't bother her again until she brings the babies to show us....which usually happens every Spring as they seem to feel safe at our place. Might be twins from the size of her

belly
