March 7th - The Return

It snowed last night...and still snowing. Our pregnant lady was back in the front flower bed munching fiddle ferns when I awoke. Believe she's decided not to leave a thing in that bed now that she's found it. Oh well..... seems to be keeping warm staying near our house so might get a front row seat at the birthing... if the ferns hold out. Alice thinks she's a new pet and follows her from window to window. They occasionally give each other a sniff thru the window but can't seem to get the camera lighting right to get a good shot of it.
She was out having breakfast for at least an hour before the snowplows came by and scared her away. Proved me wrong thinking she wouldn't get up on the deck/porch as she took off going up and over the front porch. Good thing Neil is a strong builder. Would have hated to have her go thru the porch floor and break her long legs.
After she left, Neil fired up his old jeep snowplow and started uncovering the driveway. The snowplow is a l962 Army jeep with the machine gun turret still bolted behind the front seats - and slats for body litters - and various interesting signs and placards i.e. to turn off heater in case of nuclear fallout, etc - and can ford water 60 inches deep. We have the owner's manual with some other interesting trivia about it. It's a rust bucket but has handily plowed our snow since we bought it from an airline buddy for $1K in 1995 - who I seem to recall dug it up out of a disposal pit out on the Aleutian Chain years ago and brought it to Anc. .
