Really thought I should write something just to see if it works since that last flub .

We are being visited by a young moose (probably weighing 1000 lbs - but no head rack) for the last week or so. Don't usually see them at this time of year since there's plenty of greenery in the nearby wilderness to eat. He 's been showing up at midnight or later - so even tho it's now the time of the midnight sun - it's too dusky dark to get a snap. But he showed up a bit earlier last night...about 11ish.

When Alice (our Guard Kitty ) notified me he was here, I finally got a shot....photo that is. Alice kept a close eye on me but was not going onto the porch with that monster out there.

The bottom picture is the view from my computer desk.

  1. My moose watching skills came in handy the other day when we were drive near San Carlos Mexico. I spotted a deer just off the right shoulder. No matter how long I am out of Alaska, I still find myself constanly scanning the roads for moose.

  2. Amazing!! Never thought of Mexico as deer country.

Glad you made a comment as I was wondering if anyone actually read this other than me :-)

  3. I don't know about other parts of Mexico, but the state of Quintana Roo (where Cancun is located) has a decent population of white tail deer. Not what I expected, I think of them bounding through snow not snow white sand, but they are hanging out in the jungles.
