Mexico Trip

Have been home for over a month and just now finding time to write about the Mexico Medical Tourism jaunt.  Have been mostly busy with shoveling snow as it's been an unusually snowy winter so far....still a couple of months to go.

Never in all my travels have I had so many bad omens on a trip. Outgoing trip was canceled and rebooked 3 times due to a Seattle storm before I got away 3 days later than originally scheduled.

Coming home out of Merida, the pilot announced before takeoff that he needed 15 people between Rows 10 and 20 to reseat themselves in the rear of the plane to help weight distribution for takeoff   :-O    Many volunteers headed to the rear without any incentive offers. LOL

The Return was SUPPOSE to be a straight-thru flight from Houston to Anchorage. Prior to our fuel stop in Seattle, the Flight Attendant announces that ALL will deplane in SEA and board another plane. We had all given our boarding passes in Houston so didn't have one for the other partially filled plane. It was a mad scramble for seats, but we all fit eventually.

Fortunately, Neil was able to pick me up at my  midnight arrival; as once we got home, another storm had us snowbound for 3 days until the snowplows made it out to our part of the Valley. So happy I was able to get that sun break ...and the new denture(my first experience of medical tourism).

Since my trip was cut short, the Dentist didn't have as much time as he needed to make the dentures fit entirely comfortably.  A little remedial grinding with my Dremel was inorder.  Much better now.

Jonna and Mimi were great hosts.   It was a wonderful treat to stay in their home.  Since my PC wallpaper has been their entryway pond view, it was rather surreal to walk in and actually see it in front of me for real.  Their 24 ft ceilings, doors for GIANTS, the guest shower with marble bench and tree/plants & open ceiling blew my mind.  I had watching it coming together online since "rubble" days.  Their restoration was beautiful and amazing!

Cuba and Tica were especially welcoming but the little 3 legged kitty stole my heart.  Everytime I would come into the LR and watch TV, Cuba (Doberman) would come over and sit his butt on the couch beside me (as close as he could get - had to be touching - would squirm around until I'd put my arm across his back so he'd know I'd noticed him)  but would leave his front feet on the floor.  Jonna said he knew that getting on  the couch was against the rules but 2 feet on the ground made it legal. LOL  The littlest brown/white dog, (I think her name was Chica but get her and Hombre mixed up) , liked my fuzzy blue slippers.  Couldn't find them one morning until I happened to glance at her bed.  She had taken them to sleep with....didn't chew them....just wanted to sleep with them.  They were arranged very nicely next to her.

Photos are up   ...such as they are.  I was not familiar with  the new iPhone so couldn't salvage any of the little videos taken.  Should have taken Jonna's advice and picked up postcard photos.  With Jonna's permission, I've filled in some of those blanks with photos borrowed from her.    In some, I've blocked out my lower face   as I hadn't yet received my denture and appeared so clearly snaggle-toothed  :-)

Don't know why these links are not coming in "clickable".  You might have to cut/paste them into the location bar.

BTW the heat did not bother me except a couple afternoon while we were out and about.  In fact, a couple of evenings, I turned off the overhead fans (in every room) as I was too cool.  But the humidity was a disaster for my hair...total frizz!...but worth every minute of the experience.
